Fan Fic

“Mom, dad, how did I come to this world?”

Katniss was caught surprised with the question of her daughter. She just thought that her little daughter is still too young to ask such query.

Peeta wrapped his hands in the shoulders of his wife as if he felt her uneasiness to be asked by such question.

“I can tell and show you if you like,” Peeta smiled at his daughter whose eyes brimmed with innocent delight.

“Oh, yes dad!”

Katniss elbowed her husband and snapped at him.

“What do you mean, 'show' her?” she hissed.

Peeta just smiled sheepishly which immediately melted Katniss heart and forgot why was she annoyed in the first place. He gave his wife a light kiss on the lips and approached her daughter to gather her in his arms and they made their way to his drawing room.

Peeta spent a great deal of time in this room to pursue his love in arts. He worked tirelessly to create several works of arts. This is to express his love to his wife, to release his inner demons of the past and pay homage to contentment that they enjoy now.

“Dad, are you going to draw me?” the girl asked his father as her mom followed them. She always like the paintings of her dad. For her, her dad is the best artist in the world.

“Yes, I will paint how you got here on this world,” he started, rather serious.

“At the beginning, the world of your mom and mine was pitch black,” he started to put the initial colors on his canvas. “Life was so difficult, we have to work our hardest to survive. Food was scarce, injustice was everywhere. Sadness and fear were sowed in the hearts of the people. There is no ray of hope as a sign that better days are coming.”

Peeta continued to layer some more somber colors which made the girl sad and even scared.

“But then, when our spirit was almost broken, me and your mom were given a chance to know more about each other,” he mixed some more hue and mix it with creative intensity. “We were thrown in an arena that we have to face our greatest fears and fight for our own life. But because of her I understood what happiness is. When I am with your mom, hardships and pains are irrelevant.”

“Dad, I think mom lights up your world!” the girl observed as the painting became layers of bright colors.

“Yes, she does,” Katniss put her hands to his shoulders that Peeta gently touched.

“Your mom was very brave, she illuminated a world which was shackled with fear and despair. We fought alongside her, there had been sacrifices before the victory. But as people stood united against the tyranny, a new start was given to those who were once oppressed.”

“Mom, it's you!” the girl excitedly pointed out the portrait of her mother which was now made with colors as radiant as the rainbow.

“After that, your mom decided that you should enjoy the world which is now free and peaceful,” with his graceful hands, he made quick strokes with his paintbrush. “ And because we love each other, we got married and have you,” his voice had been soothing and the child did not take her eyes off the canvas as his father continued to work his magic on his art. “We want you to learn the lessons of the past to guard the present and to secure future. We want you not to forget what had been and be the symbol of what could be.”

Peeta gave his composition its' final touches and on it, Katniss is lovingly cradling their daughter securely in her arms.

After the Quake

There had been cracks and tremors after the quake. I was in the epicenter of the disaster. Nobody predicted when it would happen, but it was pretty obvious that we are on the danger zone. There had been a casualty of one. I tried my hardest to rescue her from the debris. She was the one who got herself in that mess, she already accumulated the consideration that was generously bestowed upon her, the rescue team did their best to save her. They got her out from the rubble and she recovered from the incident but she was with not with them anymore. She was set to do something greater than being scrutinized, wherein she who will be more understood and appreciated. They let go of her. It had been decided that it is the just, objective and logical thing to do.

Way Beyond 05.10.10

I think that I made the best choice possible when I voted last May 10 for the national and local election. It had been a tedious and serious thought process before I finally came up with my decision.

New and Old Clowns Coming Through

I made my list of candidates the night before the big day. I already made up my mind about the twelve senators that I will vote. But I was shocked and disappointed that only two of my choices were included in the magic 12. Name recall had played a big part as TRAPOs (traditional politicians) and celebrities are winning the senatorial race. With these new members, the Senate has no chance to redeem it’s integrity and will just continue to be what already it is, a circus. It is there for people’s entertainment rather than public service. What it will lack is the new blood that should have champion the causes of the masses. This is the price of democracy that I enjoy; I have to respect the decision of the majority, even though I gravely disagree with them. I would love to be proven wrong. I hope the Senate will regain it’s lost glory by passing bills which will pave the way for our nation’s progress and uplift the qualities of life for ALL Filipinos.

Scrap the Surveys
Noynoy Aquino was not my first choice to vote as the President. He was in the oblivion until the whole country mourned his mother’s death. It was like his political party got the perfect opportunity to take advantage with the outpouring of grief of the people. Having a martyr father and saint of democracy mother was a big advantage for him. He really doesn’t have his own merit aside from the brief time that he served as Senator and local politician in Tarlac. He did not have that big impact in helping his constituents or changing their lives for the better. But I voted for him anyway.

Dick Gordon was my first choice. In my sample ballot, it was the oval beside his name that was shaded. What I remember about him the most was his excellent administration in the SBMA. I can still recall how furious he was when then president Estrada kicked him out from the office. I think that was not because he will be out of power. It only showed how passionate he was in his job, that he worked with blood and sweat to get things right and he is someone who is brave enough to fight for his principles. But in the dawn of the Election Day, I just knew that he would not be the wise choice.

Gordon would not be the best choice because I know that his time is yet to come. I think that he should work much harder in the Senate to prove that he is worthy to claim the highest position in the land. That is why he doesn’t like the surveys. He doesn’t like to know that he is not yet ready for the presidency. Though he also made a good point, for the next election, surveys should be scrapped because it is not impossible to influence the opinion of the electorate who are the winnable candidates.

Make Your Own Legacy
I am sure that I made the right decision of voting Aquino simply because I trust him. I believe that as a good role model, he can minimize and all together get rid of graft and corruption, bureaucracy, red tape in our government. I know that with his strong leadership he will champion education, economy and peace and order, especially in Mindanao. His parents’ surname might help him win the election, but it can no longer aid him to be a good president. It is really not about his destiny or birthright. The people trusted him; I think he can’t live with his conscience if he will betray that. He was given a chance; now he has to show his leadership, abilities and intellect to turn around the fate of our nation. He will be set to make his OWN legacy.

Summer Lovin'

Months before our graduation in college, me and my friends decided to hike to Baguio. We made an excuse that we need to get good photographs for our Basic Photography course, so the trip will be a mix of business and pleasure. Since our wanderlust was insatiable, we decided to go even further by also visiting Sagada.

That trip proved to be one of the best that I had taken.

My barkada really enjoyed eating out, watching movies and attending each other's birthday celebrations. But it was not that many times that we had the luxury to go out of town. We were able to do that once when we enjoyed the chilly and relaxing city of Tagaytay. I fondly recall that at that time, my good friend Jack, was already pregnant with her first child.

Fast forward three years and the baby on her tummy is now the chubby and irresistibly cute, Jamilla. Wearing her yellow swim wear at Loreland Resort in Antipolo, she was a delight to everyone specially to her adoring mom and dad.

You don't really have to carry the baby in your womb to say that you are a mother to a child. Rachel proved that she can also be a giving but strict mom to Becky. And Cherie had been a doting auntie to the well tanned Tinay who was very independent she swam around the pool away from us.

Summer is for the kids, but it is also a good chance to take some awesome pictures in your two-piece swimsuit. I can't just let summer time gone by with out fun pictures with my friends basking in the sun, but well-protected by SPF 50 sunblock, frolicking in the azure chlorine soaked pool water.

I had a fun time gossiping away with my posse, swimming around in the pool under the shade of palm trees and exploring the huge premise of the resort

This was really a summer to remember.
