All About Demi

Ate Joan had always been one of my favorite cousins. When we were young, she was the leader on what game is it fun to play, whether that would be patintero, syato, mangga-manggahan or Pepsi-Seven Up. Being one of the eldest and gifted with good height and long-legs, she is often the winner of this game or it will be your advantage to be in her team. My childhood had always been fun, filled with games and companionship with my cousins.

She had been someone who is constant to my life. Learning from her what’s cool and ‘in’ since she is already in high school. Discussing about her friends which I fondly recall had given her the code name ‘Jackie Foster’, Countless sleepovers in their house in Cainta. And I will never forget about our ‘fashion shows’ using the blankets as gowns and throwing dead cockroaches to the other cousins. I had always enjoyed her company all through these years.

And when I was given a chance to work with her, I discovered her more serious side. She is hard working, creative and patient. I think most specially patient with bosses who have ‘colorful’ personalities. But even with the cutthroat environment, she was able to help make the company’s annual even a roaring success. Working in that company was really tough, but being with her there made it bearable. She always encouraged me to still do my best when I feel like giving up.

And now that she is already a married woman, I think that a lot of things will change, but for the better. I know that Ate Joan will be a delight to her own family, a fun and responsible mother and a supportive and loving wife. I wish her all the best in this next chapter in her blessed and exciting life.
